Close, but not here

we're in a crowded room
and it feels like we're suffocating from all the heat
coming through unknown breaths

they deprive us of our everlasting need
while the space between us spreads and hurts
our coyest body parts

I long for you
I always do
and you know I get silly
when we only make-believe

because deep inside there's something missing
and I sometimes forget how much it aches
even if it seems impossible with all these voices around me

they can't erase the thought of your lips
pressed on my freshly-washed hair
unexpectedly

the image of your arm around my waist
holding me tight
so I won't ever fall apart

nor even a quiet look
waiting for the desired attention

yet you know me well
you keep chanting it
like it's a line from one of the songs
on your car radio

the tears are not coming out
because soon there's nothing on my mind
I wait the gesture
I see it through the corner of my eye

turns out there's no one near
you're finally here
